Climbing beans have the potential to provide farmers with yields three times higher than bush beans – that’s 3x more food on the table or 3x more money in the pocket for the millions of smallholder farmers who rely on agriculture for their living.

But there’s an added challenge to growing climbing beans – they climb. And they need something to climb up.

Most farmers in bean growing areas of sub-Saharan Africa can’t afford the added expense of buying staking materials to suport their bean crops. So PABRA and partners have been working with them to develop innovative new technologies.

This film, produced in English, French and Kiswahili and now available on YouTube, was produced to demonstrate three innovative staking techniques to those farmers who may be considering growing climbing beans.
